Ruby Woo Lipstick by M.A.C

I've had so many of you girls asking me what lipstick I'm wearing in my latest video. Well as the title would suggest it's Ruby Woo by M.A.C.

You got me thinking about how much I really feckin love this lippy! It was my first ever M.A.C lipstick purchased in November 2011. I only have a very small collection of their lipsticks and Ruby Woo is the one I wear the most for sure. I have a great relationship with this lipstick. It gives me a certain confidence no other beauty product has given me before.

When I was in school I had a teacher who wore a red two piece suit every now and again. She later told our class that the red two piece suit gave her a sense of power and confidence. That's how I feel about this lipstick. I wore it to the blog awards last year and on many nights out. It's so matte that I don't have to worry about it sliding off and with the Artdeco Magic Fix it lasts all night.

What's your favourite lipstick and does wearing it make you feel different or am I just mad?!

Vintage Make-up and Handbags galore with Bernie's Bags this Christmas

Have you ever walk into a shop and thought WOW!, my friend would love this? Or OH MY GOD!, my mam would really love this piece. Well that happened to me recently when I went to the home of Bernies Bags. Bernies bags is a vintage shop owned by a lady in Co Meath. She sells vintage items through her Facebook page and also attends vintage and craft fairs regularly in the area. She also does repairs and hires out a number of her really special pieces.

She has some absolute gorgeous pieces and an unreal amount of vintage make-up I thought you might all be interested in. The fact that I got to see and hold theses pieces was a real delight for me. Just think about who owned them previously and the sights they might have seen.

Irish Made sandalwood Leather Beverly Bag from the 1970's

Bernie has a small number of Beverly bags in her collection. Beverly was very populary in the 60's and 70's around the world for making handmade leather bags right here in Ireland. Fans at the time included Grace Kelly and Jackie O. If you are lucky enough you might be able to grab yourself one from Bernies Bags, the company went out of business in the 90's which is a real shame. The quality of their work is very hard to come by today.

I love this quirky clutch bag she also had in her collection when I went to visit, I've never seen an opening like that before. And the beading is gorgeous. Her pieces are in really great condition and deserve to be loved again!

Bernie's bags also has a wonderful collection of vintage make-up which includes compacts and lipsticks with the original make-up still contained. She also has vintage manicure sets which might appeal to collectors and any ladies who are interested in nails.

I really would recommend checking out Bernie's Bags out, you are sure to find a real gem for yourself or a friend this Christmas.

Check out her Facebook page for photos and you can contact her through her page also. She is currently show casing her pieces at the Christmas Craft fair in The Central Pub in Navan, Co Meath on Trimgate street. You can also contact her by email at handbagsforhire@hotmail.com.

Let me know what you think in the comments below. Are you a fan of vintage?

The Perfect Red Lips for the Party Season featuring Barry M and Rimmel London

Hmmm.. What am I missing?! Oh yes, the perfect red lipstick for the upcoming party season!

In fact I have a pretty spectacular Lip liner and lipstick to tell you about. Barry M 163 Little Vixen €8 and Rimmel London Exaggerate Lip liner in 024 Red Diva €5.49

I lined my lips with Red Diva, a full colour lip liner definer which is soft textured and the fine tip offers precise definition. I didn't find this liner to be drying, it went on so smoothly. I made sure not to twist it up too much to avoid causing the liner to snap. I just twisted up a little at a time and it worked perfectly. This liner made the perfect base to the lipstick I chose to apply next. They matched each other perfectly.

Next I applied Little Vixen by Barry M. I bought this lipstick as part of Boots 3 for 2 offer. I also bought two Barry M polishes, I shall report back on them soon! I love this classic red lipstick because it's not too bright and it's not too dark, it's just right. Little Vixen is made up of Barry M newest ultra moisturising lip paint formula. All hail cocoa butter! It means no more dry looking lips but it does also mean you need a very good lip liner to keep it in place. It's suits my complexion perfectly and I look forward to wearing it over the Christmas party season and well into the new year.

I applied both of these products at lunch time and after dinner, a trip to the cinema were obligatory popcorn was had and a quick stop into my local on the way home to see a band play I noticed then that the lipstick had held up for a good 10 hours!!! You can't get much better than that girls!

To prolong your lipstick for even longer check out my post on Lipstick sealers.

Love,
Sarah

Expert Last Lip Color by NYC - Review & Swatches

From Left to Right
438 Candy Rush, 411 Snow cone, 443 Purple Crush, 405 Blue rose, 404 Air kiss

From Left to Right
440 Creamy Caramel, 418 Sugar plum, 402 Red flame, 441 Traffic jam, 432 Red Rapture

I'm a bit slow off the mark with these beauties ladies. I have been meaning to review them for quite some time. Bare with me over the next few weeks as I play catch up to the reviews I've been meaning to do but have not been able to get around to doing them until now.

Today I have the NYC Expert Last Lipstick collection. They cost a very affordable "in your face" expensive brands....€2.49 and come in a range of shades. I have swatches above of ten out of fifteen shades in the collection and I'd love to know which ones are your favourite in the comments below.

I have to say I am loving Blue rose, Air kiss and Red rapture. These are the colours I usually gravitate towards when buying lippy products for myself. They glide on nicely and feel creamy upon application. No matte drying sensation with these beauties. I'm not too fond of the sheer shades such as Candy rush, Snow cone and Sugar plum. They are just too sheer for me. They might be more suited for teens or someone who is looking for just a smidge of colour.

The darker shades have great staining power which I like as it means less time re-applying and more time smiling! They claim to last up to 5-6 hours and with the right application you will get this from the darker shades.

I often get asked what certain products smell like, what are ya like aye! Well I can't quite put my finger on the scent but they do smell nice and not the usual smell you would associate with make-up at such a low price. Well worth the buy in my opinion.

Love,
Sarah

Pucker up with LUSH - International Kissing Day - Power liquid Lipstick, Mint Julips scrub and Lip service Lip balm.

Hello Lovelies,

I don't know about you but this bi-polar Irish weather is really taking it's toll on my lips. Unlike skin on the rest of our bodies the skin on our lips is exceptionally thin and has no oil glands which makes the lips even more delicate and prone to dryness and chapping.

Follow the steps below for supple, smooth and chap free lips (and of course utterly kissable!)

Step 1. Scrub
Using a lip scrub is a great way to remove dead skin and Lush have three flavours to choose from, Mint Julip being my personal favourite. Their lip smacking cocktail contains castor sugar and jojoba oil. €6.75 each and contain 20g of product. Another way to exfoliate your lips would be to give them a gentle exfoliating with your toothbrush.

Step 2. Moisture
After you have removed the dead skin from your lips you will need to protect them as much moisture as possibly by using a lip cream or balm. Lip Service has been around since the dawn of time, I mean since the start of Lush and keeps proving to be a best seller. It contains shea butter, cocoa oil, beeswax and tangerine oil.Not only can you use it on your lips but also on you elbows, knees and heels. It can also act as a protective primer if you plan on wearing a drying matte lipstick. M.A.C Ruby Woo springs to mind for me.

Step 3. Pucker Up
I've mentioned the Emotional Brilliance range by Lush before and next month will celebrate it's first birthday. The range features lip and eye colours that offer show stopping colour that's actually good for your skin. Check out this Liquid Lipstick in shade Power €17.95. The lip range consists of thirteen different amazing colours that can also be used as a cream blusher. Power is a very bright orange-coral colour with gold shimmer. I'm still perfecting my application with these sponge top applicator lipsticks but I love how creamy they are and as always animal cruelty free.

"A kiss symbolises kindness but there is noting kind about testing on animals so lets join together and kiss goodbye to cosmetic cruelty" LUSH

This week Lush are promoting #crueltyfreekisses in association with International Kissing Day which is on Saturday the 6th. Lush are attempting to set the new Guinness world records title for the most lip prints collected in 12 hours. If you would like to take part then head on over to your nearest Lush store on Saturday where you will be able to pucker up and get your kiss on (Kissing strangers not advised!!)

Love,
Sarah

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte - Rose Paris #27 with SPF 15

Hi Girlies, I put a picture up on facebook of this Yves Saint Laurent lipstick (€31.50) I wore yesterday and got such a great response from it that I decided to natter about it here on the aul blog! I won the lipstick in shade Rose Paris well over a year ago and when I got it thought I would never EVER be able to pull it off so it sat looking pretty with the rest of my lipstick...until now!

So what made me take the plunge and pucker up with this Bright pink with coral undertones lipstick?! Well ladies, I bought the dress below on sale in Dunnes Stores for just €12 reduced from €35 and teamed it up with a turquoise beaded necklace that I bought in Portugal last year for a whopping €3. I usually always wimp out and wear a nude lipstick or something that won't look too messy if it smudges while eating or drinking. I'm not one for running to the ladies every few minutes to fix my make-up, I actually rarely bring make-up out with me. However, yesterday with such a bright outfit on I felt like today was the day to be daring and as soon as I applied the lipstick in shade Rose Paris it was a match made in heaven!

I could not get over how creamy and soft the lipstick felt as I applied it and WOW the colour pay off is amazing. Apart from the Rimmel Apocalips lip lacquers I don't think I have ever used a lipstick so pigmented in all my days! The consistency is so creamy that I was sure it was not going to be long lasting but fortunately for me I was wrong and it lasted far longer than I had expected. And get this, it's SPF 15 too.

Check out the gold luxurious packaging too, it's super classy and sophisticated. I usually hide or re-apply my lipstick super fast to avoid people looking at me but with the packaging of this award winning lipstick I had no hesitations at all re-applying my make-up in public. I especially like how the tube has the corresponding colour shade to the lipstick.

Now I have to admit paying over €30 for a lipstick is something I have ever done before. If I win the lotto or become super rich from one of my crazy ideas presented on Dragons Den I would gladly re-purchase this lipstick in many different shades but until then I will enjoy this little beauty until it hits pan!

Thank you for all your kind comments on Instagram and Facebook, let me know what you think of this lippy in the comments below. Question of the day: What's your favourite lipstick this summer?

Love,

Sarah
